Caring For Your Copper Products
The copper used in our sink, range hood or bath tub is thicker then copper used by most our competitors. Thicker copper means stronger and more durable. Additionally, unless you specifically requested otherwise, your copper product has been treated with a clearcoat sealant, which provides extra protection to the patina finish and to the sink it's self. However, even the strongest protectants cannot take the place of responsible care and maintenance. A degree of pampering is required to keep your copper products protected. We recommend the following maintenance steps.
1) If you purchased a copper bath tub or one of our kitchen or bathroom sinks, we commend a very quick and light wipe-down with a clean soft dish cloth after each use to minimize standing water held in the texture, accent designs and around the drain. For convenience, many customers get in to the habit of keeping a clean dish cloth near each copper sink just for this purpose.
2) Regular cleaning of our sealed copper sinks and bath tub, should be done with gentle dish soap and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and wipe off. Abrasive cleaners can eat away at the lacquer finish, leaving the copper product exposed to air and water which will darken the patina finish over time.
3) For occassional deeper disinfecting, a non-abrasive, non-corrosive cleaner may be used, such as diluted Simple Green. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry.
4) A high quailty copper patina wax (not a copper polish) should be applied monthly. The wax is like a lotion which can be easily rubbed on and off to help extend the life of the clearcoat sealant indefinitely.
As a reminder, every copper product is hand crafted and made to order. Therefore, minor variations in patinas, textures and dimensions add to your copper product's originality and should be anticipated. Any precision cuts to countertops, cabinets, tiles, etc. should not be made until your copper product has arrived.
Copper Warranty: The manufacture warrants the copper products against structural defects. In the rare event of a manufacture defect, the manufacture at it's sole descretion will repair or replace the product. The manufacture will not cover the cost of removal, installation and or shipping cost associated with a warranty claim. Bath Tubs And More offers no warranty on any copper products sold through our store. All warranties are the full responsibility of the manufacture.
Undermounting: If you have purchased an undermount copper sink, we commend cuts to the countertop be made to match the inside dimensions of the sinks basin (as opposed to leaving a "reveal" to show a portion of the top surface of the mounting flanges).
Scratches: A surface scratch that penetrates the clearcoast sealant could cause the underlying copper to continue to darken the patina finish. A light application of KRYLON Clear Sealer can be used to re-seal the scratched surfce. No warranty is implied or offered against scratches or patina changes by either the manufacture or Bath Tubs And More.
